WOOL COMFORT AND HANDLE

 Development

A brief chronicle of the development and commercialisation of the Wool ComfortMeter and Wool HandleMeter.

The Wool ComfortMeter and Wool HandleMeter were developed by the Cooperative Research Centre for Sheep Industry Innovation (Sheep CRC) in conjunction with the CSIRO, Australian Wool Innovation (AWI), AWTA, Deakin University and the Department of Agriculture and Food WA (DAFWA).

In April 2013 the Wool ComfortMeter and Wool HandleMeter technologies were made available for commercial use by all wool processors, knitwear manufacturers and retailers, as part of a pilot project between AWTA and the Sheep CRC designed to introduce the new measurements to the market.

In 2014 the manufacturing and distribution rights for the Wool ComfortMeter and Wool HandleMeter were formally handed over to AWTA Ltd by the Sheep CRC and the research project became a fully-fledged commercial enterprise.
